Dizz What?

SO I am VERY tired tonight, but I had to write.  Today, I had a dentist appointment after school.  When I was done I called TB who was at the house.  Let me try to paint you a picture of this.....TB is asleep on the couch, his phone is plugged into the wall, sitting on a mantle.  The phone vibrates............I hear someone pick it up, but nobody talks.  TB on the couch is like I hear ML's voice.  It turns out that Dizz, pulled on the cord, knocked the phone to the floor, somehow it flipped open and turned on speaker phone.  It was like Dizz answered! I love my doggy!  Good night peeps!

Life with a Miniature Schnauzer 7 Things for 7 Months:

1. When you lay down, you always have someone to snuggle with

2.  When you come home~he's so happy to see you ALWAYS

3.  When you cry, he really sits on you and licks your tears

4.  When you clean the house, he is following you every step of the way (and barking at the sweeper)

5.  When you're hungry, he's hungry

6.  When you are writing your blog, he is sleeping on your lap reminding you how special dogs are :)

7. When you cook Thanksgiving dinner, he watches you the whole time as if he is monitoring your cooking!  (and of course he is there to cut the bird even though he will eat Pro Plan for dinner :) )

Life With Dizz

Now~We were at the breeder's house. There were 5 little mini schnauzer guys to pick from and all of them were too cute! We narrowed it down to 2 boys. TB said "you pick." So I picked up Dizz~put him down and there he sat looking at me while I picked up the other guy (who I thought was the one). I put him down he ran away, and there sat Dizz. He was the one. He picked us.

We did the paper work and brought him home. We invited my parents, Todd's Mom, and his sister, her husband, and 2 small children over to see him.
Boy, was he outgoing and friendly for being a mere 7 1/2 weeks old. He was so tiny, but he seemed to fit right in.

The next day he had a vet screening and everything was okay. I began to realize how much the vet charges. When the bill was $100.00 and he was really in the room for like 5 minutes. Plus he had to come back in 2 weeks for more shots.

We were very nervous. His first night with you he slept in his crate and everything went well.

The first month or so we had to really work with him with biting our arms, ankles, fingers. We took him to a puppy class, and just like teaching I found positive reinforcement really works. Treats and praise are the way to go.

Currently Dizz will be 7 months tomorrow. He just went to the vet today. He has hair in this ears from getting groomed and now he is taking ear drops. He was up all night on Thursday with pain. :( Hopefully he will feel better now with the drops.

So I should have started his blog when I got him. I tried to catch you up to the current time. :)

To Schnauzer or Not to Schnauzer?? That is the ???

First of all~I never thought I would do a blog. I feel like I have no clue what I am doing, but last evening I decided I wanted to keep a "diary" or "blog" about my life with my dog. (I will also include other things) I think the main idea of this blog is to express what things really matter in life and what things we really shouldn't sweat about. (But that will come a little later)

So let's get started already!

First, let me introduce you to our family. It's me ML, my husband TB, and our Miniature Schnauzer Dizz Emillio. We got Dizz on June 28th, 2009 and let me tell you how has our lives changed since him.

TB and me have been married for 3 years in July. I have always grown up with big hound dogs. My husband just was not feeling a big, slobbering hound. So for the 1st 2 years of marriage, we couldn't agree on getting a dog.

Then this May~TB came home and said hey some dude at work needs to find homes for come Chocolate Labs. I was so excited about this, but this is when I realized...
~We have a REALLY SMALL yard ~We both work and are gone most of the daytime ~I didn't think a big dog was the answer

So I researched, and took all kind of dog quizzes on which dog is the best for your life style. Then there is was the Miniature Schnauzer breed. A small 15 lb. dog, that doesn't shed, slobber, is perfect for an "apartment or city life," and can get along with small children. (Just in case we decide to have children in the near future) So I just went for it. I found a breeder near Youngstown, Ohio. I emailed her that night. She called me the next day. I wanted a girl~she had 5 black and silver boys. I called my husband and told him of the news. He was like go ahead we can reserve one.

~I called her back and sent in my deposit the next day.

Now lets discuss this:

Our situation in May 2009

A married couple I'm in my late 20s. TB's in this early 30s.
We had nothing tying us down. We could go out whenever we pleased and stay as long as we want.

Did we really want at dog tying us down?

Our families said DON'T GET A DOG.

Hmmmmmm.............Oh wel! I sent in the money. We planned our last vacation as a "free" couple the week before we picked up our new puppy. Actually we came home on June 27th and we were picking him up on June 28th.

On the morning of June 28th we woke up. Got all of our supplies that we had bought at Petco. (about $400.00's worth) We got on the turnpike headed West to Ohio. And we were on our way to the Kennel.
