Dizzin' up Sugar Cookies!

I can't believe it's October 23rd!  Time is flying. Unfortunately, the stink bugs are still around.  Today, I attend an opera workshop which was tons of fun! I really enjoy opera!  When I got home, I decided to make some sugar cookies for Halloween.  Dizz watches almost the whole time and cleans up the crumbs! He is an awesome helper in the kitchen!  Dizz also loves to try to eat the pumpkin in the backyard!  Now we will enjoy some cookies and watch some baseball! Go Phillies!

The Granddog & some Cake!

So I think my Dad may love my dog Dizz more than anyone in the whole World! Since this weekend is so busy for us, my mom and dad (who are the greatest 2 people in the whole world....my husband is also  the greatest too :) )   are babysitting.   My husband dropped Dizz off and said my Dad was jumping up and down (literally)  at the sight of Dizz.  Dizz was very happy too!   My parents have a dog named Wabash.  Wabash and Dizz play, roll, jump, and are crazy together.   They all have a great time to say the least.  At a time just before Thanksgiving, it makes me think how thankful I truly am for my life and everyone in it especially my husband, mom, dad, animals and true friends.  I am also very thankful for the few but real friendships that I have made over my lifetime.  I do believe that a true friend is a special gift and they don't come easy! Stay tuned........hopefully I will post some baking and holiday fun soon! Have a great day!  But for now here are 2 cakes I made this summer.  One for my mom's birthday and one for my best friend Maria & Joe.

Fall

So Fall is a great time, cooler weather, a great time for Dizz. Dizz just got blessed at Animal Friends for St. Francis of Assi Day. St. Francis is my favorite saint because he loved animals and believed we must care for them. Animals are the greatest! Now he is a true Catholic! :)

Fly By

Why do off days go so so fast?  Why am I more productive on days when I have too much to do? Why?  Some days I wish I could be a pup with Dizz and just chill all day, play, and eat! :) That would be so much fun! :)
Summer is flying by...
It has been hot oh my
Soon it will be fall, but why
Summer is flying by...

Peace & Love :)

Wart & Dizz

So we have a toad living in our backyard.  I am convinced it is the same toad that we see everyday.  We named him Wart.  (it could be a she, but who knows??)  Dizz is friendly with Wart and leaves him alone for the most part.  Every once in a while Dizz will smell Wart, but Wart doesn't seem to mind.  I am actually fond of Wart and will be sad if he ever goes away.  There are many bugs for Wart to eat in our yard.  Check out the pics of Dizz, my cake, and Wart.

1st Fondant Cake

Today I made my very 1st cake decorated with fondant! Actually, I made the flowers a week ago, but the rest was done today.  It looks ok for the first time I think.  I haven't eaten it yet.  I can't wait to try it even though I am not too sure on how crazy I am about fondant icing.  I think I would rather just eat buttercream.  I guess you take the fondant off.  What would you do?

Enjoy the pic.    P.S.  While I was cooking, Dizz was sleeping!  What a life :)

Wabash & Dizz

Wabash is my Dad and Mom's Black and Tan Coonhound and Dizz's best friend.  They playing with each other and even sometimes get into fights!  (Not bad fights usually over a bone) check out their picture above.    It is really funny watching them play together.  Wabash is 100 lbs and Dizz is 20 lbs, but they work it out.  I sometimes wish people would get along with each other as easy as dogs seem to get along.   Dizz and Wabash aren't worried about anyones appearance, they just want to play!

What R Ya Thinkin'?

What do dogs think? Ball, Ball, Ball, Ball.......  Food, Food, Food, Food.... I have no idea, but I like to think that they know exactly what I'm saying and that is how it will be for me! :)  I don't know anyone else in the World that would follow me around while cleaning the house and be excited & happy about it!  Dizz is and he keeps me going and makes it way easier for me.  I love dogs! I recently just visited my friend who has a chocolate lab.  This dog is so cute and so good! I just love dogs! :)  Dizz even stays with me and "helps" me make my cakes!

Spring and Summer

It has been a while since I have posted a note.  I must add that at this time, Dizz is barking up a storm.  He wants to play ball! I have decided to split this blog in 2.  Sometimes it will discuss Dizz and sometimes baking.  Just like Forrest Gump said "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get!  Enjoy.  Here are 3 of my first cakes which were made in Feb. March, and April!

A Long Time...

It has been a long time since I have written.  It is now Spring.  Dizz is doing great tearing out the grass in the yard, chasing bugs, and digging in the dirt.  It's funny how 70 degrees seems to be too hot for him.  I guess with all his fur, it is!!

I sprayed all my tulips so that rabbits and deer would not eat them.  WELL, my beautiful miniature schnauzer likes them.  Spray or no spray!  I have lost a few to Dizz!

His first birthday is coming up on May 6th.  He is really beginning to look and sort of act like an adult.  Which is sad really I wish he could say a puppy longer!!  He is so loving and fun!  This morning he was sitting on me snuggling in bed with his head on the pillow.  He is honestly like a person only even more caring.  The first month we got him, he would bite everything!!! One time I had to put on my winter coat and gloves to get him to come down the stairs!!! HAHA! I am a wimp!  I let a 5 pound puppy scare me!  He was a  so cute!!!

I love him.  Until next time,  Have a Happy Schnauztastic Day!

Day Off #5

Our 5th day OFF!  Dizz and I could get use to this!  Dizz has been with us 24-7 & I have to say I never get sick of him he is awesome!  We went for a walk in the really snow covered woods yesterday.  Dizz sunk in the snow, he was hopping like a bunny running through the high snow.  Sometimes he was leading the way and sometimes it was me.  It was like we were a team.  It was amazing the communication that we had with each other.  Being a teacher, you have to use and be aware of non-verbal communication, but it is very apparent between a human and a dog.  That is how you communicate most of the time.....signals.

Dizz is a wonderful companion.  He can even sense people who really like him and us!  LOL!!! I find that he barks at random people and I always wonder why??? Hmmmmmm.  They are usually not the people that seem to really be comfortable around dogs or us for that matter! :)   May be Dizz is telling us something!

I LOVE YOU DIZZ!   I have to say no cabin fever for me, not with my Dizz!

No School No School!

Hey Hey! We have been off for 2 days!  No School!

You know what that means?  Just playing with Dizz!! Dizz is loving us being home all the time.  I have to say with Dizz I am not getting "cabin fever" or anything.  I actually am loving every minute of getting a little break from the daily grind.  Dogs really do bring out the best in a person.  They get you to realize what really matters in life...

What really matters

1.  Health~~unfortunately without this you are not feeling too great!

2.  Love (Family)~  love is one key element in life that makes you have...

3.  Happiness (Family)~  Family, Friends, (by the way family includes your dog)

4.   Money~(job)  unfortunately you need money to have a home, dog food, people food, and heat!

I guess these snow days can't last forever, so every moment we have to spend together should be cherished and loved! :)

Let it Snow

Wow! Last Night, it snowed more than we are use to getting here!!  It snowed 20 inches!  Our power also went out and was out for about 12 hours.  We were lucky because some people are still without heat.

Last night we cuddled up by the fireplace.  Dizz was there to snuggle with and he was  so comforting.    It is amazing how an animal can comfort you.  I really do believe in Dog Therapy.  I would like Dizz to be a therapy dog.  We will see if this happens.  He is 9  months old today.  For therapy training you must be one year old.

After the night was over  and the sun came up, Dizz experienced his first 20 inch snowfall!  Here is a picture!!

He loves  the snow, but it sticks to his fur and he get soooooo cold!!  I love DIZZ!! HAPPY 9 MONTHS!!  Having a dog is one of the greatest things in life!

Here is Todd and Dizz!!

Unconditional Love

The World can be really tough.  I actually don't think I know how tough it can be.  With the earthquake that has hit Haiti, you realize (once again) how horrible life can be for people.  Please donate your money or help to the people & children of Haiti.  Every little bit helps.

I also wanted to thank God for everything he has given me in my life.  God is definitely most important in our lives.  We must remember we are not in control and at any moment anything can happen, good, bad, or ugly.

I wanted to express some of my feelings on these issues.  I know my blog is about Dizz,  my doggie.

Dizz & all animals are sweet, innocent, and helpless.  They need tender love and care.  In return you will get a friend for life and unconditional love.  Think of all the things in life that give us humans unconditional love.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.....

1.  Your family  this includes your parents, husband or wife, and possibly siblings

2. Your animals!!!

I love animals.

A funny story the snow is melting here and Dizz was outside in the mud.  He decided to dig up the yard.  He was a BALL of Mud.  So we gave him a bath and I think he likes baths now!  He use to hate them!

Well, until next time.....don't forget to give your puppy, kitty, or family a big hug and kiss and tell them you LOVE them EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!  <3

Snowy Dizz

Snow Snow Snow! It has been snowing straight for five days!  Dizz is IN LOVE with snow!  He was playing in it last night with the doggy across the street, Holly.   Dizz runs, jumps, and spins in the snow.   Sometimes he gets carried away and goes crazy.  It is so cute watching him.  The snow sticks on his fur and he looks like a big snowball when he comes into the house.

Dizz loves snow

Watch it blow

Jump and run

Having fun

Thank You Dizz!

2009

2009 definitely had some ups and downs.  The BIGGEST UP was the birth of Dizz!  He is such a great addition to our family.  I have to say, I absolutely love him.    He has added such positive elements to our lives.

Effects of our Dizz

1.  As a person you are happier

2.  Everyday you have something to look forward to when coming home from work

3.  You always have a friend to cuddle with you on any chair, floor, bed, whatever

4.  Even when you are cleaning your house, even the bathroom he is right with you as moral support!  He even barks at the sweeper!

5.  You are more active, you are happier

I Just can't imagine my life without my Dizz.  Dogs are seriously the best investment any human could ask for.

For those of you who think I am crazy.  You are the ones missing out on life.  No trip, Store, Movie, object, whatever can substitute for the LOVE a dog gives you!   No offense, but I do believe dogs are just as good friends as humans.  Dogs usually aren't mean to you, they don't lie to you about things, they can't back stab, they aren't worried about how they or you  look.  Dizz doesn't care if my hair is brushed, if I have 100 zits, or even if I stink!   He just wants love and of course the essentials in life like water, food, sleep, shelter, and love.

My 2010 New Years resolution is to be nice to all people and things.  I want to try to help people in need more than ever.  I will follow Dizz's lead and remember not to make judgements on people.  Everyone wants the essentials: water, food, sleep, shelter, and love.   Oh and I will try to swear less. :) LOL!

In 2009 more than ever I found out what unconditional love is.....Thank You Dizz!  I love you!
